Bhubaneswar: Xavier University is glad to announce that Shri Naveen Patnaik, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha has kindly consented to inaugurate the School of Government and Public Affairs (SGPA) and the newly constructed International Center on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at 11.30 am at the New Campus of the University in the presence of Prof. Dr. Fr. Antony R. Uvari, S.J. (Vice-Chancellor) and other dignitaries.
Reaching another milestone by launching a new school, School of Government and Public Affairs under the XUB tree, along with the inauguration of International Center, which will provide the students with world-class facilities, couldn’t have been possible without the assistance of the Government of Odisha. The support they have provided in making Bhubaneswar a center for higher education and enabling students to reach their dreams is truly an inspiration for any university to move forward in the right direction.
With a vision to provide a wide variety of exceptional facilities for the students and creating an environment where they can shape their future, the International Center is going to be one of its kind. The state of the art amenities presents inside the International Center will provide students with a variety of services and venues for social, recreational, cultural, and educational pursuits. International Center houses sports complex, gymnasium, lecture halls, research centers, food courts, education development center, training halls, living rooms and many more.
School of Government and Public Affairs aims to build leadership potential of the state and help create a huge network of future change agents in the fields of governance, public affairs, and policymaking. Aligning with the philosophy of “Inspiring Futures”, it also aims to develop and nurture future leaders of Odisha with special attention on betterment of youth, women, tribal and the disadvantaged. The Master in Public Policy (MPP) program is the flagship offering of the SGPA and it has been designed by XUB in association with renowned global experts to offer an educational degree of global standards in the public policy arena.
The school intends to attract many academics and practitioners in the public policy area including elected representatives, bureaucrats, administrators, managers, and NGO leaders. In the near future SGPA will see research and other centers of excellence such as Center for Leadership Studies, Center for Conflict Management and Negotiation, Center for Governance and Policy, Center for Human Rights Policy, Center for Social and Economic Policy, Center for Business and Public Policy, and Center for Climate change and Disaster Management.
