Bhubaneswar: With the lockdown for containing COVID-19 spread at community level bringing the entire Temple City to a complete standstill, as a humanitarian measure, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) started distribution of Aahar meals for destitute at three locations during evening hours.
BMC started the initiative with 500 meals, destitute were served at City Bus Terminal near the railway station, Ram Mandir Square, Rasulgarh, Naya Palli and Patia Station.
BMC sources said the number of meals may go up from tomorrow depending upon the people present at the distribution points. The civic body will cover all three zones, i.e. South East, South West, and North zones and will be supplied with the meals every evening.
However, as the measures are undertaken to contain the spread of COVID-19, the authorities are taking every possible measures to ensure the social distancing SOP guidelines devised by the State Government.
