A mix of nostalgic feelings and melancholy gripped the whole state of Odisha on Monday as veteran Ollywood actor, Shri Bijay Mohanty, passed away at a private hospital in the capital city of Bhubaneswar.

He was known for his versatility in roles, whether as a doting brother in Rakhi Bhijigala Akhi Luhare, an uptight father in Lakshmana Rekha, or the lovable grandfather in Suna Panjuri, Bijay Mohanty became a popular name in all nooks and corners of Odisha.
Tribute for the Legend
Internationally renowned sand artist, Manas Kumar Sahoo, has paid a one-of-its-kind tribute to the Ollywood veteran on his demise. Through sand animation, Mr. Manas has showcased Shri Bijay Mohanty as the ‘Captain of Ollywood’.
Mr. Manas Kumar Sahoo portrayed Shri Bijay Mohanty as the flagbearer of Odia culture in his heartfelt tribute. With two hours of effort, Mr. Manas created his tribute and honored one of Odia cinema’s greats.
The mortal remains of Shri Bijay Mohanty were cremated with state honors at the Satya Nagar crematorium on Tuesday. The Chief Minister and Governor of Odisha expressed their condolences for the bereaved family through social media.
Many notable names of the Odia film industry, such as Uttam Mohanty, Siddhant Mahapatra, Sritam Das, Anu Choudhury, Bidusmita, Ushasi Nanda and other paid their respects to Shri Bijay Mohanty on his final journey.
