On Tuesday, the India Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rainfall in 15 districts of Odisha. The low pressure is likely to originate in the North Bay of Bengal on the 19th of August. Heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected in some places of Angul, Sambalpur, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Keojhar, Kendrapada, Deogarh, Balangir, Jajpur, Sundergarh, and Sonepur. 

Odisha to Form Technical Committees for Monitoring Covid-19 Treatment

The Covid-19 cases are rising at an alarming rate. In order to monitor the treatment facilities of the state, the Odisha Government has formed multidisciplinary technical committees. The technical committee, which will be formed by the Medical Education and Training Directorate, constitutes of senior professors from 7 different medical colleges. They will visit the Covid-19 facilities in 30 districts to monitor and provide the required assistance to the facilities.

Odisha Urges for the Supply of 1.03 Lakh Tonne Urea

The Government of Odisha urged the Centre for the provision of 1.03 Lakh Tonne Urea as the Odisha farmers face a shortage of fertilizers in the Kharif season. According to the statement of Arun Kumar Sahoo, the Empowerment Minister of Agriculture and Farmers, Odisha received 56,228 tonnes urea against the actual quota of 70,000 tonnes Urea in July. To meet the demands of urea for paddy cultivation, Odisha urges Centre for more 1.03 Lakh Tonne.

Dutee Chand gets Recommendation for Arjuna

Dutee Chand of Odisha gets recommended by the selection committee of the Sports Ministry for the Arujan award this year. At present, Dutee Chand is a national champion in the event of women’s 100 metres and the third Indian woman for qualifying at the Summer Olympic Games for the event. She is currently getting trained for qualifying in the Tokyo Olympics.

COVID-19 Cases rises to 3322 in Sundargarh

On Tuesday, the Covid-19 cases in Sundargarh reached 3322, with 64 new cases being reported within the last 24 hours. Out of the 30 new Covid-19 positive cases, 30 cases are from Rourkela. Sundargarh records 2090 recoveries and 22 deaths. At present, the district has 1206 active cases of Covid-19.

KIIT Tops the list of Private University in India

Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Bhubaneswar, acquires the top position in Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) 2020 under the category of ‘Private or Self-Financed Universities.’ On Tuesday, Venkaiah Naidu, the Vice-President made the announcement of the ranking. Last year, KIIT received the second position, but this year the institute bagged the first position.

Matriculation Toppers of Keonjhar receive DMF Scholarship

Ashish Thakare, the District Collector-cum-Chairman, and District Mineral Fund’ Managing Trustee felicitated the matriculation toppers during a special function on Tuesday. The collector made an announcement of DMF HSC Scholarships Rs 10,000 to Rs 40,000 for the students of Government-aided and Government schools who have performed well in the Class X exam on the basis of their marks secured.
