On Monday, IMD- the Indian Meteorological Department issued a thunderstorm and heavy rainfall warning in Odisha. Following this, the state government has directed the district collectors to stay alert and to closely monitor the situation. The warning is issued for Puri, Khurdha, Ganjam, Koraput, Rayagada, Narbarangpur, Deogarh, Nayagarh, Kalahandi, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Kandhamal, and Mayurbhanj.

Miscreants Loot Indian Overseas Bank at Gunpoint in Capital City

At gunpoint, some unidentified miscreants looted Rs. 2.78 lakh from Infocity area’s Indian Overseas Bank. As per the report, when there was only two staff in the bank, the miscreants barged into the back and threatened them to hand over the cash. They looted the bank with the help of a toy gun.

Strict Action will be Taken Against People Not Following COVID-19 Guidelines

Pradip Jena, Special Relief Commissioner of Odisha, has informed that starting from 9th September, stricter action will be taken against the COVID-19 norms violators to lower the COVID-19 positive cases. He further said that if one can save him-herself, he or she can save the family members and others from getting affected.

Coca Cola has appointed Sanket Ray as the president of its India and Southwest Asia regions. As per the report, he will be holding Coca Cola’s INSWA operation’s highest position. Sanket is from Bhubaneswar and has completed his graduation in mechanical engineering from NIT, Bhopal. Besides, he also has completed his MBA from XIMB.

State Tourism Minister Tests Positive For COVID-19

Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi, Tourism and Culture Minister, Odisha, has been tested positive for the coronavirus. After tested positive, he became the fourth Odisha’s minister to have infected by the virus. Panigrahi informed about this through his official Twitter account and have advised people who have come in contact with Panigrahi to conduct the COVID-19 test and self-quarantine.

OJEE Online Exam Postpones

Looking at the current COVID-19 situation, the OJEE- Odisha Joint Entrance Examination exam in the state has been postponed. As per the report, the new data for the exam would be issued in October 2020. OJEE chairman has informed the candidates who have submitted their application can modify their examination centers if they want.

Liquor Sale Timings Extend in Odisha

The Excise Department has extended the opening time of liquor shops in the state. As per the fresh report, the liquor shops can now remain open till 10:30 PM. The report further states counter sale of FMFL, wine, RTD, beer, IMFL, and ENA-based liquor in all licensed IMFL stores located outside of the containment zones will now be allowed to remain open from 10:30 am to 10:30 pm.
