The East Coast Railway (ECoR) is all set to start more new inter-state trains from the 12th of September. The various special trains started by ECoR includes Visakhapatnam-Korba-Visakhapatnam via Rayagada, Tiruchchirappalli-Howrah-Tiruchchirappalli, Guwahati -Bangalore Cantonment, and Bhubaneswar-Ahmedabad-Bhubaneswar among others. All the train tickets for these special trains have been booked in the first round.

Low Pressure to Cause Heavy Rain as per IMD

According to the forecast made by the India Metrological Department (IMD) on Friday, heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely to hit 21 districts of Odisha. The cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal made IMD forecast heavy rain. The districts are likely to witness heavy rains on September 12 owing to the low pressure.

BBSR Reports 413 New COVID-19 Cases

The capital city Bhubaneswar reported 413 new COVID-19 cases on Friday. The total cases of COVID-19 in BBSR are now 15,365. Out of the 413 reported cases, 310 are local contact cases, while the remaining 112 are from the quarantine centers. In the city, 58 people have died due to COVID-19, and 10,184 have recovered. Further contacts in BBSR are still being traced.

One More COVID Hospital to be Set up in Baleswar

On Friday, the Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy, along with Senior Officials, visited Baleswar. The Chief Secretary showed his happiness due to the satisfactory management of COVID-19 in the district that kept the mortality rate as low as 0.3%. However, in view of the future need, the District COVID Observer directed the setting up of another COVID hospital with 100 beds soon in Baleswar.

In the Startup Ranking-2019 of the state, Odisha gets categorized as ‘Leader.’ On Friday, the ranking was released by Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister. The introduction of the online portal ( by the Government of Odisha has simplified the clearance and approval process for the startups. The other necessary relaxations have further encouraged the growth of the startups.

Air Pollution to be Reduced in 6 Cities

The six cities of Odisha that are under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) are likely to experience a clear sky in the near future. The six cities include Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Talcher, Angul, Rourkela, and Baleswar. This was first revealed during a webinar conducted on the International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies, which was attended by Prakash Javadekar, the Environment Minister in New Delhi.

Rupees 2.42 Crore Collected as Fine from the COVID Rule Violators

Strict rules have been implemented for the containment of the deadly disease. In five months, the Commissionerate police have collected more than Rs 2 Crore from the people violating the COVID-19 rules in Cuttack as well as Bhubaneswar. Between April to September, the total amount of fine collected is Rs 2,42,80,185.
