As per the new report, the East-Coast Railway will run four more special trains till further advice. On the other side, the East-Coast Railway has withdrawn five special festival trains due to less footfall. Besides, a few weekly special trains also have been suspended as the passenger number is low.

Odisha Cabinet Gives Green Signal to Food & Procurement Policy

The state government has fixed a target to procure around 48 lakh metric tons rise under the Food and Procurement Policy for Kharif Marketing Session for 2020-21. The State Cabinet has approved the policy. The procurement target for paddy for the season would be 54 lakh metric tons.

Ganja Worth more than Rs 1 Core Seized

On Thursday, Lamptaput and Padua police in Koraput district sized ganja worth about Rs. 1.25 crore during two separate raids. Besides, police have also arrested one person in this case. It may be noted that a few days back, police seized 800kg and 1300 kg of ganja in two separate raids.

1264 Recover from COVID-19 in the State in 24 Hours

The Health & Family Welfare department has informed another 1264 COVID-19 patients have recovered in the State in the last 24 hours. As per the report, both Angul and Khurdha district has witnessed more than 100 recoveries. With this, the toral COVID-19 recovered cases in the state now stand at 2,93,741.

Rs 11,200 Crore Supplementary Budget Approved by Council of Ministers

The State Council of Ministers has approved the supplementary budget of Rs. 11,200 crore. As per the report, the budget will now be presented in the State Assembly on 20th November, i.e., the first day of Winter Session. After this budget, the fiscal’s budget size is likely to go up to Rs. 1.6 lakh crore.

State Govt to offer Rs 2600 Cr of Bank Loans to GRIDCO

The State Cabinet has approved a proposal under which the government will facilitate Rs. 2,600 crore of loans to GRIDCO for 2020-2021 financial year. As per the report, GRIDCO will get an interest concession of two percent from banks. This will lower the financial cost of electric suppliers, which will help MSMEs, industries, and consumers.

Child Sacrifice Case: Two get Life Imprisonment

Kendrapada District Sessions Court has sentenced two persons to life imprisonment for murdering a boy (8 years old) of Gokhapada village in 2015. On the other side, while punishing Choudhury Abinash Das and Baikuntha Das, also imposed a fine of Rs. 50,000. As per the report, after sacrificing to appease the goddess, they had thrown the body in the river.
