IFS Officer and his Son are in Vigilance Net
Odisha cadre IFS officer and presently serving as additional PCCF, Abhay Kant Pathak, has been arrested by Vigilance department on allegations of amassing a huge amount of disproportionate wealth and his son Akash Pathak. The father-son duo has been remanded to judicial custody after a special Vigilance court rejected their bail plea.
Awe-inspiring Nagarjuna Besha of Lord Jagannath after 25 Years
After 25 years of a long gap, the rare Nagarjuna Besha was held at Puri Shreemandir. As per the rituals, Lord Jagannath and his siblings were dressed with appealing golden attires and also decorated with 16 different types of traditional weapons. But this is the first time in which it was observed the absence of devotees because of COVID 19 pandemic.
New OHRC Chief of Odisha
Retired judge of Odisha High Court Justice Bijaya Krushna Patel has been appointed as the new chairperson of Odisha Human Rights Commission. Formerly he was a judge of Odisha High Court from 2008 to 2015. The OHRC post was vacant after Justice BP Das’s retirement on November 14.
Total Tally Rise to 30,648 Positive Cases
On Friday, Capital city Bhubaneswar has registered 38 new positive cases. A good number of positive cases are detected daily in Bhubaneswar, and with these numbers, the total tally is 30,648. From which 483 cases are active. The total death cases toll to 215. However, the total recovery cases are 29,929.
State Total Positive Cases now 3,17,239
There are more than 594 new COVID 19 cases detected in 29 districts of Odisha on Friday. With this number, the total COVID 19 tally rose to 3,17,239. From these new 594 cases, 343 people were from quarantine centers, and 251 people tested positive through local contacts.
Medical Colleges in the State to Open from December 1
All the medical colleges present in the state would reopen from December 1, as all were closed due to COVID 19 situation, announced by the Health Department. There was a meeting organized in this regard and where Health department, Higher Education Department Secretary, Examination Controllers of various universities, all Deans and Principals of Medical colleges have participated.
