As in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, there will be no zero night celebration in Puri on the eve of New Year. The district administration has imposed prohibitions on any celebration in public places on the occasion of New Year. The Sri Jagannath temple will also remain closed for the devotees for two days from New Year as per the earlier decision.
Cold Wave to Intensify in Odisha
The Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast that the cold wave conditions will intensify further from tomorrow. As per the sources, the minimum temperature is likely to dip by 1-2 degrees over the coastal belt of Odisha in the next two days. IMD has also issued a warning letter for several parts of Odisha.
Goods Train Derails in Koraput, Restoration Work Underway
Around one and a half months after a goods train derailed in Koraput district, a similar incident took place at Jarti station in the same district late on Monday night. As per the sources, four wagons of a goods train came off the track near Jarti station while it was on its way to Visakhapatnam. No injuries were reported so far.
Construction Company Employees Carried off at Gunpoint in Angul
On Monday, some unidentified miscreants reportedly kidnapped two employees of a construction company engaged in the construction work of a bridge in Pallahara block in Angul district. According to sources, around 12 unknown persons reached the construction site on Monday night and enquired about the on-duty employees at that time.
Puri Beach Gets Blue Flag Recognition
The Puri beach, named the golden beach, got the ‘Blue Flag’ tag on Monday. This recognition was accorded with the unfurling of the Blue Flag and the Tricolour on the beach. The Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Prakash Javadekar, hosted the flag through video conferencing.

Darshan at Lingaraj Temple underway
Darshan at Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar is underway as it reopened on Monday after nine months. In the first phase, family members of servitors are being allowed to have darshan. Till December 31st, only family members of the servitors will be allowed to have darshan. Barricades have been installed in front of the temple entrance, and the identity proof is being checked during the entry.
