Sambalpur is on the top list of the COVID-19 positive cases chart today. It is reported that out of the 245 positive cases, the highest of 35 cases were reported from Sambalpur. The state’s tally reached 3,29,866 on Friday. Of the new cases reported from 24 districts, one hundred and thirty-nine are from quarantine and one hundred and six are from local contacts.
Huge Tumor Removed from Woman’s Abdomen
Surgeons at the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital have removed a huge tumor from a woman’s abdomen in Bhubaneswar’s SUM Hospital for the 3rd time. It was reported that the abdominal tumour weighed more than 10kg. Madhusmita Dani from Manmunda in Boudh district had undergone surgeries in SUM Hospital in 2012 and 2016 respectively to remove a similar tumor.
State GST Enforcement Wing Unearth Fake GST Invoice Racket
In Odisha, a fake GST Invoice racket was busted, and the mastermind Sandeep Mohanty was arrested in the case. When the enforcement wing conducted a state-wide search operation yesterday, the fraud in respect of twenty-two firms came to light. The three goods vehicles carrying the goods on the strength of fake invoice have been seized at Jeypore.

Puri, Kendrapara Get New Collectors on New Year
On Friday, the Odisha government effected a major reshuffle in the bureaucracy and appointed a new district collector for Puri, Rayagada, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapara. Also senior IAS officer Vineel Krishna was made the special secretary to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Vineel Krishna is allowed to remain in an additional charge of Special Secretary to the government, Sports and Youth Services department as per the latest notification issued by General Administration and Public Grievances.
