The puja at the Nabagraha Temple is conducted every day. On Sankrati and Saturday many people gather at the temple to worship the Nabagraha to offer Bhoga and perform Homa.
Nabagraha Temple (Nine Planets' Temple) is located just outside the compound of the Konark Sun Temple. The temple is dedicated to nine celestial bodies of Hindu astronomy, and thus, the name Nabagraha derives. Surya (Sun) , Mangala (Mars), Chandra (Moon), Shukra (Venus), Shani (Saturn), Brihaspati (Jupiter), Ketu (South Lunar Node), and Rahu (North Lunar Node) are the nine celestial bodies. It houses a huge chlorite slab, deep with idols of nine planets made with black chlorite stone and is richly ornamented.
