Gobardhan Acharya was a great Sanskrit poet of the 12th century. He was a poet in the court of Puri King, Laksmanasena. He was a contemporary of Jaydev. His father was a great Sanskrit scholar who had written books on scriptures.
Gobardhan Acharya became famous of just one poetry work named ‘Aryashaptashati’. The poetry contains 764 verses which is listed in an alphabetical order. It describes both vices and virtues. The poetry is erotic in nature which depicts the lifestyle of people of various profession. It highlights both the luxurious and lavishing lifestyle of rich and hardship faced by the poor.
