Manorama Biswal Mohapatra is one of the brightest women writers of the state today. Manorama Biswal Mohapatra hails from the Balasore district. From her early childhood, nature has given her the best of its visual experience, which emerged in from of words. So most of her poems have bear the uncommon beauty of the village, nature, sea, river, trees, chirping of birds, and solitary silence getting new images.
Some of her books have been translated in English, Hindi, Bengali and Aasames languages. Presently heading the Odia language and literature department of BJB College, Bhubaneswar, Manorama, a member of a number of coveted literary award including the Central and State Sahitya Academies and winner of a host of awards, has had the honor of participating in the World Congress of poets in Greece and an international literary seminas in Bangladesh, Sweden, London etc. She is a recipient of ‘Jhankar’ award and in the year 1999, State Sahitya Academy has adorned her with the award for her poetry book.
