The temple of ‘Budhi Thakurani’ is situated on one side of Sunasagad hill, which is the heart of the Angul town. Goddess Budhi Thakurani, the presiding deity of Angul, is worshiped in the form of a stone icon made up of black granite. The idol is covered with vermillion. The temple attracts a lot of crowd who flock in from different places for a “darshan” of the Goddess. Angul has earned the status as a Sakta Centre since 8th century A.D.
