Sarala Temple

Sarala temple is situated in the district of Jagatsinghpur and is well-known as the cultural heart of Odisha. The main deity of the temple is Goddess Sarala. Here Goddess Saraswati is worshipped as Godess Sarala. It is a popular Saktipitha in Odisha. Many festivals are celebrated in the temple, the major ones includePana Sankaranti, Dolo Purnima, Chandan Jatra, Sri Mahabishuba Sankranti and Raja Sankranti. Every year a large number of people throng to this place to seek the blessings of the Goddess.

As per the Puranas, Sidheswar Parida, (Sarala Das) as a farmer, was an ardent follower of the Goddess Sarala and it was after her blessing that Sidheswar Parida became Sarala Das, the great author of Odia Mahabharata.

Conveniently located, this temple is accessable by road from Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack and Paradeep. The nearest airport is Bhubaneswar, which is approximately 80 kms, and is well connected by road. The nearest railway station is Cuttack, however there is a small passenger halt at Sarala Road, near Tentulipada. Every day three buses come from Cuttack Badamabdi to Sarala Pitha. One can fetch a bus leaving Cuttack badambadi bustand to Paradeep in every 15 minutes.
