Mruga Mahadev temple is situated in the district of Keonjhar, near Champua, at a distance of about 70 km from Keonjhar city. The temple enshrines a different image of Lord Shiva. The image of Lord Shiva in this temple looks like a deer which is locally known as “Mruga”. Therefore the deity is called Mruga Mahadev. There is a perennial waterfall flowing from above the Thakurani hill. The temple lies near the bank of the waterfall. The place is a well known picnic spot. Large number of picnickers flock here round the year. Devotees visit this place regularly and keep the temple busy. The best time to visit this place for the purpose of picnic and sight seeing is in between the months of October to March. The temple is at a distance of about 305 km from the capital of the state, Bhubaneswar.
