The Movement and Action Network for Transformation of Rural Areas (MANTRA) approach promotes a socially inclusive, gender equitable, self-managed and financially viable model of sustainable and holistic development, where everybody benefits. The principles tha t guide our approach demonstrate our commitment to such a development process. Our interventions respond to the needs and aspirations of the communities. Building community ownership for the processes and results is key to our work. Fine-tuned implementation systems, clarity on processes, experienced teams, and long-term community partnerships mean that we scale programmes effectively. We have been working directly on the ground, in partnership with rural communities, for the last four decades. They know that we will be with them whenever they need us. Institutions, governance processes and infrastructure still stand strong after more than two decades of us initiating them in villages across Odisha. []
