Ensconced in the north-eastern part of Odisha, Simlipal is a national park covering 2750 km2. It was declared a tiger reserve in 1973 under “project tiger” and is now home to about 26 tigers. The forests of Simlipal is also a Biosphere Reserve, home to a plethora of wildlife that is rarely sighted. Swathes of lush green expanse, dewy mountains, the chirping of the birds, the trickling brooks, and the experience of a new world cut off to the outside one makes Simlipal a surreal and an enthralling getaway from the city life.
