The Odisha Tourism executing policy of department of tourism Development Corporation, established in 1979, was formed with the objective of fostering tourism within the state and managing existing tourist accommodations and transportation services on a commerc ial basis. Initially, the corporation acquired numerous tourist bungalows, now known as Panthanivas, of the Government of Odisha.
- To acquire, maintain and develop all places of tourist interest like Parks, Beaches, Places of beauty and recreational spots across the State
- To provide entertainment in the form of cultural shows, dances, music concerts etc
- To produce, distribute tourist publicity materials
- To plan and execute Schemes of department of tourism for Development of tourist complexes and tourist resorts
- To establish and administer a Hotel Development Fund and to render financial and other assistance to those establishing hotels, motels, travellers, lodges in Tourist Centre
- To establish, manage, run, construct, lease out or acquire hotels, cafes, tourist homes and the like to afford facilities for boarding and lodging to tourists
- To organize or conduct all-inclusive tours by road, rail, sea, air or otherwise
- To run Tourist Information Counters across Odisha
- To act as travel agents for airlines, railways, shipping companies, road transport operators
- To develop & promote Odisha as one of the premier tourist destinations of India.
