Batrisa Sinhasana
Batrisa Sinhasana is a remarkably well-preserved 32-step structure traditionally associated with the legendary throne of King Vikramaditya. It stands at Nandapur, the ancient capital of the Jeypore Kingdom; this historic site holds profound cultural and archaeological importance. The area is home to several notable landmarks, including an impressive six-foot-tall red stone idol of Lord Ganesha, the revered Bhairavnath shrine, and multiple ancient monuments that testify to Nandapur’s rich past.
Nandapur lies about 45 kilometres from Koraput and continues to attract visitors interested in history and heritage. Adding to the region’s appeal, Balda Cave is situated around 20 kilometres from Nandapur. On the opposite side rises the Nageswari Mali hill, which features a beautifully scenic reservoir atop its slopes, offering a striking blend of natural beauty and historical charm.
