Malkangiri
Bonda Hills
The Bondas, who have lived in near isolation among the higher hills are fiercely independent tribe. The Bondas, known as Remo (men), are a small tribe of the type now often called Austro-Asiatic country. This is the living place of Bondas, a primitive tribal community in Malkangiri District. It is surrounded on all sides by dense hilly forest. There is one specific festival called Patkhanda Yatra at Mudulipada, which is celebrated by the Bondas in the month of January, in which they worship a sword. They believe that this sword belongs to the Pandavas.
