This temple stands on the Brahmadi mountain, just 80 km away from the capital, Bhubaneswar. The Mahanadi River flows at the foot of the Brahmadi mountain. Here, the Mahanadi meets the Kusumee and Kuanria rivers. Because of this, people refer to this place as the Triveni Sangam of Odisha. Gandhamardhan Dev of the Brahmin dynasty of Baud established this temple in the eighth century. The architectural style of the Bhogamandapa of this temple is unique. Like the Puri Srimandir, this temple also has four gates and twenty-two steps. Here, along with Lord Nilamadhav, stand the temples of Mother Lakshmi, Siddheshwar Dev, and Shri Jagannath. The idol of Lord Nilamadhav enshrined here consists of Indranil stone. Another special feature here is that water always flows from the foot of the idol of Nilamadhav.
