One of the most splendid architectural marvels of the world is the Sun Temple at Konark in Puri. It is a world heritage site and attracts tourists from all over the globe. This temple was built by King Langula Narasimha Dev of the Ganga dynasty to worship the Sun deity. Then the king appointed Sadasib Samantraya Mahapatra as the chief architect for building this awesome structure. The temple basically represents a grand chariot with twenty-four wheels being drawn by seven magnificent horses. The temple also finds mention in Ain-i-Akbari, written by Abul Fazal. However, this magnificent temple, as it stands now, has collapsed to a great extent, and most of the structures present in the temple now are lucky to have withstood the test of time.
