Balangir

Balangir District is located in western Odisha, established on November 1, 1949, and is named after its headquarters town. The name derives from Balaramgarh, a 16th-century fort. The district is flanked by the Gandhamardan hill in the North-west and the rock-infested Mahanadi in the North-east. Many hills and streams traverse the district.
