Tikarpada

The tiny village of Tikarpada lies at a distance of 58 km from Angul. The village offers some of the most exciting visuals of the Satkosia Gorge, India’s mightiest gorge, into which the turbulent Mahanadi River crashes with amazing ferocity through 22 km of emerald forests, which seem to change their hues with every bend of the river’s meanderings. The site offers one of the most fabulous scenes of river and forest, the Satkosia Gorge, where the great Mahanadi river crashes in with monumental force. People consider the gorge to be one of the most enchanting spots in the world.

Apart from offering gorgeous views from the pinnacles of the surrounding hills, there is excellent potential for sportfishing, boating and trekking around these parts. Apart from this, there is a Gharial Crocodile Sanctuary amidst lush green forest by the side of the Mahanadi River. The Gharial crocodile population obviously enjoys this exotic environment and uses this sanctuary as an excellent breeding place created to protect them.
