Vedvyas

Vedvyas Temple is a well-known religious site near Rourkela, about 12 km from the city and 15 km from the railway station. Devotees dedicate the temple to Sage Vedvyas, the author of the epic Mahabharata. According to local legends, Vedvyas was born here and wrote the Mahabharata with the help of Lord Ganesha. The temple lies near the meeting point of three rivers—Shank, Koel, and Saraswati—which together form the Brahmani River. The peaceful and spiritual atmosphere attracts many visitors. Scenic hills, including Mahavir Hill and Parasara Hill, surround the area around the temple. Vedvyas Temple becomes especially lively during the Hindu festival of Shivaratri. The celebrations last for two weeks, drawing large crowds of devotees and tourists.
